Hey everyone! I know I haven't been posting lately, I was at home for 3 weeks to take my final in pediatrics (something I can now check off my list of things to survive) and I've been on the run since. I didn't have enough time for a lot of things and couldn't meet up with everyone I wanted to see, but I will be returning home for a 2 week mini vacation in January and maybe I can finish some stuff then. The last few days have been especially hectic, I spent the last 3 days at the ER doing 12 hour shifts. It was a great experience except for the sleepover which could have been without a doubt, a scene from a movie as 3 of us, 2 residents and I, set up camp in an empty ward (originally destined to be a detox ward) and tried to sleep as much as that was possible. It was actually very Grey's Anatomy-ish with the very slight difference that we were not woken up for emergency surgeries, but by shivering because this great, not in the least uncomfortable room had no heating! Anyway, so there was that. Today was mostly spent running around as I have now purchased my 4th laptop adapter. They were pretty wide-eyed at the store even though I tried to convince them that I have been using them as intended. Needless to say, they did not believe me (but I swear it's true). Doesn't matter, they gave me one with something like a forever guarantee or something (I know that doesn't exist). Then I had lunch with Dad, a little coffee, a short Finnish class and all of a sudden the afternoon was over and we had to leave to the airport. Nothing super interesting happened here, even the preparedness wasn't extreme, a couple of cops here and there, but that's all. We took off a little after 9 and I could tell already that we were going to be late, which didn't make me very happy, as the following plane-bus, bus-tram route was calculated precisely to the minute, but I was lucky. We landed with a slight delay just past midnight and I ran through the airport like some kind of brute getting caught on a railing during the way. After a while of trying to free myself I had a small audience as the metallic clang of the metal and my loud swearing aroused everyone in my immediate vicinity. I exited the terminal and realized I had 7 minutes left, thinking easy breezy I went in search of platform 10 from where the downtown bus leaves. Aha, I realized platform numbers start at 23 with 10 at the very beginning because fuck logic that's why. Somehow I managed to catch the bus and from here on it was more like a game of finding out whether I would catch the last tram or the one before that. I was eventually on the earlier one and we even passed the cathedral on the way to the hotel. I have a very crappy quality picture to prove this (see below). As soon as I entered the hotel it started pouring rain outside, so somehow I even managed to avoid that. This brings us to the present, I am currently sitting in my room eating pastries in bed and checking Tripadvisor to find out where to have coffee tomorrow morning until my bus leaves. I'll probably wander the city for a few hours, make a couple pictures and then head north in the early afternoon. I'll be writing from home tomorrow :)
PS: I saw a shooting star from the plane :)
